Sarah Ferguson has reportedly turned to her daughter Princess Eugenie for a favour but the princess has allegedly said no. Ferguson is said to have been welcomed as a guest by Eugenie at her Portugal home, according to reports, but she allegedly made a frantic plea for more. Ferguson has remained away from public view for months after being compelled to vacate Royal Lodge alongside her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Royal biographer Andrew Lownie said that “at one stage she was pleading to be given a free run of the secluded Portuguese home”, suggesting Sarah wanted to come and go as she pleased. But, Princess Eugenie allegedly turned down the request. Lownie said: “That was a request too far for the Brooksbanks, who have no wish to see their bolthole under siege from paparazzi.”

Lownie suggested there was a very particular motive behind the timing of her comeback to the UK.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lownie asserted Ferguson’s actions were “no accident” and that his “bomb-proof sources” revealed she was already aware of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s intentions to return to Britain.

Lownie suspects Ferguson may have discovered more about the Sussexes’ arrangements through her daughter Eugenie.

Princess Eugenie has recently given birth to her third child, daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, in Portugal.

Lownie alleged Ferguson has visited Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, at their Portuguese residence since the birth.

According to new reports, the former Duchess of York is currently renting a £10,000-a-week, six-bed property.

Her new refuge is said to be somewhere in the Home Counties.

The 66-year-old left the UK at the start of 2026 to escape a wave of scandals linked to the Royal Family’s ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This does not automatically suggest wrongdoing.

King Charles ordered the disgraced former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to vacate Royal Lodge while Fergie was left to find independent living arrangements.

It is now reported that she will return to the UK and “get back to her life”.
