“No incidents have been recorded in Lithuanian airspace, and the security situation remains unchanged. The Lithuanian Armed Forces are continuously monitoring the airspace and the regional situation and are prepared to respond, if necessary,” it said in a statement to ELTA.
Earlier on Tuesday, a drone crossed into southeastern Estonia, while another headed towards the eastern border town of Narva, public broadcaster ERR reported. Alerts were sent to residents, and Turkish fighter jets stationed at Estonia’s Ämari Air Base as part of NATO’s rotating air defence mission were scrambled. The threat had passed by 5:30 a.m.
A late-night mobile phone alert was also issued in Latvia’s Aluksne Municipality over a potential airspace threat, LETA said. Estonia’s ERR reported that drones involved in the Latvian incident had also entered Estonian airspace, where NATO Baltic Air Policing jets continued searching for them.
Lithuania’s most recent air alert was declared on 13 June in Vilnius County.
