Metro Romania has appointed Allen David Burkhardt as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective 1 September 2026.

He replaces Camelia Oprea, who stepped down after heading the company’s financial operations for the last 12 years to become CFO of Metro Franchise.

Oprea will retain her seat on Metro Romania’s board of directors until 1 November 2026 to ensure a smooth executive transition, Metro Romania added.

An Experienced Leader

Burkhardt brings over a decade of experience in the Metro, spanning finance, corporate M&A, and portfolio management.

He joined Metro in 2014 as a corporate M&A associate, later serving as value creation manager for Portugal and vice president of Value Creation across France, Italy, Portugal, and Pro à Pro.

Following a stint as vice president of FSD portfolio management, he assumed the role of CFO at Metro Slovakia in July 2023.

Oprea, who joined Metro Group in 1996, has held senior financial leadership roles at both national and group levels.

She served as CFO of Metro Romania since 2014, overseeing its multichannel wholesale strategy, logistics expansion, store upgrades and digital transformation.
