>As Ukraine’s international partners supporting the judicial reforms in Ukraine, we welcome today’s establishment of the Ethics Council by law.
>The Ethics Council will undertake an important task of reviewing the integrity of the High Council of Justice members – the highest judicial governance body in Ukraine.
>Three international experts – retired high-ranking judges from the USA and the UK and a former General Prosecutor of Estonia – will work together with three Ukrainian judges in the Ethics Council to promote judicial integrity, a key demand of Ukrainian citizens and both the Ukrainian and international business community.
The creation of the Ethics Council in HCJ is a massive win for democracy in Ukraine. And Judicial Mafia started full fledge war against this judicial reform. Right now it is not clear if it can survive long enough to topple Judicial Mafia.
We are worried that the Constitutional court could label it as anticonstitutional, and this court is plagued by corruption.
