Hyundai Mobis said Thursday it has begun producing power electric (PE) systems at a new plant in Slovakia, strengthening its electric vehicle (EV) parts production network in Europe.
The parts affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group held an opening ceremony for the plant in Novaky, Trencin Region, attended by Hyundai Mobis CEO Lee Gyu-suk and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, among other officials.
A PE system is a core EV component that integrates an electric motor, inverter and reduction gear, converting electrical energy from the battery into power to drive the vehicle.
Built on a 106,000-square-meter site, equivalent to about 15 soccer fields, the plant has a floor area of 8,500 square meters and an annual production capacity of 280,000 PE systems.
The Slovak facility marks Hyundai Mobis’ first PE system production base in Europe and further expands the company’s European EV parts manufacturing network in the Czech Republic and Spain.
