Genesys is stepping up its push into agentic artificial intelligence (AI), as enterprises move from experimenting with AI to deploying systems that can coordinate actions across customer service operations.
At its Xperience 2026 event in Las Vegas, the company said Genesys Cloud reached nearly USD 2.9 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) during the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, covering May 1–July 31, 2026. ARR grew more than 30% year on year.
AI is emerging as a faster-growing part of that business. Genesys Cloud AI ARR crossed USD 400 million, with its year-on-year growth rate more than twice that of overall Genesys Cloud ARR, according to the company.
Genesys also reported net revenue retention (NRR) of more than 120% for over 12 consecutive quarters. NRR measures the revenue retained and expanded from an existing customer base over time.
For the first half of fiscal year 2027, Genesys said total revenue grew more than 20% year on year. The company also reported GAAP and non-GAAP operating margins above 30%, and more than USD 500 million in free cash flow during the six-month period.
“Agentic AI is changing how companies operate around the customer,” said Tony Bates, Chairman and CEO, Genesys. “By orchestrating people, AI, systems and workflows around customer intent, enterprises can create stronger experiences that build loyalty and growth.”
Bates said the company is seeing enterprises shift from AI experimentation towards adoption at scale, increasing the need for context, governance, and orchestration.
Enterprise AI moves towards orchestration
Genesys is positioning orchestration as the next layer in enterprise customer experience AI.
Instead of deploying individual AI agents for isolated tasks, the approach seeks to co-ordinate AI agents, employees, enterprise applications, and workflows around a customer’s intent and carry that context across different stages of the interaction.
More than 7,500 organisations globally now use Genesys Cloud, according to the company. Of these, more than 600 generate over USD 1 million in Genesys Cloud ARR each.
Customers cited by Genesys include HSBC, Nestlé, Roche, Schneider Electric, Vanguard, Vodafone, Independence Blue Cross, and IDEXX Laboratories.
The company said its platform now handles more than 33 billion voice, digital, and AI-driven conversations, as well as more than 6.5 billion sentiment events annually. It also processes over 1 trillion API invocations a year.
Genesys said it has introduced more than 600 Genesys Cloud features over the past 12 months.
Building the agentic layer
The latest product push centres on Genesys Cloud Navigator, Genesys Cloud Orchestrator, Contextual Intelligence, and an AI Control Plane.
The underlying idea is to provide a common layer that can understand customer intent, preserve context, determine what action should happen next, and govern increasingly autonomous AI interactions.
Genesys Cloud Navigator is intended to help determine the next appropriate action across a customer journey, while Genesys Cloud Orchestrator is designed to co-ordinate workflows, AI agents, systems, and people.
Contextual Intelligence is aimed at retaining relevant customer and interaction context, while the AI Control Plane adds governance around how AI systems operate.
For enterprises, the bigger question is increasingly not simply whether an AI agent can answer a customer query, but whether it can work safely across systems and complete a task without losing context or creating disconnected hand-offs.
Virtual agents get more autonomous
Genesys is also expanding its Agentic Virtual Agent offering, including enhanced reasoning, voice capabilities, development tools, and connections to enterprise systems.
The company said its acquisition of Pinkfish gives customers access to more than 25,000 compatible tools, in addition to more than 500 enterprise integrations available through the Genesys ecosystem.
This could allow virtual agents to move beyond answering questions towards taking actions across business systems and carrying more complex customer requests through to resolution.
Genesys is also expanding integrations and collaborations with Adobe, Amazon Web Services, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Sierra.
The broader direction reflects an important shift in enterprise AI. As autonomous agents proliferate, the challenge moves from building individual AI capabilities to controlling how multiple agents, applications, workflows, and employees interact.
For customer experience platforms such as Genesys, orchestration could therefore become the layer that determines whether agentic AI remains a collection of experiments or becomes part of mainstream enterprise operations.
