Nigeria has ranked among countries with fewer citizens seeking asylum in Norway, based on applications by citizenship reviewed by the northern European country between January and July 2026.
Official data from the Norwegian Immigration Act Section 28, in 2026, stated that only three Nigerians applied for asylum between January and July, 2026 out of 1,303 asylum seekers.
War-torn Ukraine has 407, the highest of number of asylum seeker in Norway in the period under review. Colombia has 77, China has 18 and 50 Afghans sought asylum in the country during the period.
In Africa, Eritrea leads the continent with 76 of its citizens seeking asylum in Norway, Sudan has 42 citizens while Congo has 20 nationals who filed asylum applications during the seven-month period.
Ghana and Egypt respectively have five nationals each who applied for asylum in Norway during the period under review.
