There are no saints, only sinners. Gandhi, Mandela etc all did things we’d consider awful in 2022. I don’t really care about the idea of building statues and memorials for non-Britons, especially those who fought against British interests, but we need to accept everyone is flawed and whatever his wrongthink was, he still achieved much for Indian independence.
Visited his house in New Delhi, very moving, esp the stone footsteps in the garden marking out his final few steps.

Ghandi may have been a deeply flawed man. But unlike other flawed men, he was able to peacefully end a centuries old occupation and exploitation of his land and people. Without being greedy. Or even that power hungry.
