Didn’t crossings drastically decrease during 2020 because of, ya know, the pandemic? It stands to reason they’d rise back up to previous levels as things normalize.

It is not illegal to cross a border if you are seeking asylum. I find this reframing of asylum seekers as illegal immigrants very disturbing.
This is what happens when you don’t want illegal immigrants but keep parroting a welcoming rhetoric. It will draw more people to come and then they will find that they are not welcome. Countries and the EU should be honest about their communication.
Would be nice if they STOPPED them instead of just logging them.
This is just not fucking good. Borders in Bulgaria are just shambles, anyone passes with just a bit of money to the right people and off to Western Europe. I’m not sure how much money the is the EU sending for better security at borders, but I’m sure it’s isn’t doing shit here with so much corruption.
