I see very often “ACAB” on the streets of trogir/split. Does it have the same meaning as in US (all cops are bastards) or is it something else?

  1. Of course not. Croatia is a European country, Catholic and strongly religious. ACAB in Croatia means: “Always carry a Bible”. 🤣🤣🤣

  2. It means that we have youth that doesn’t need to go to the work early in the morning, so they vandalize stuff through night.

  3. Yes, it means the same. However, it’s most likely written by some teenage idiot who spends too much time online and doesn’t differentiate between US issues and our own.

Croats generally consider cops to be stupid and joke about them (“you’re so stupid, you must be a cop”). Surely, a lot of them are corrupt, but the nature of our issues with the police isn’t remotely similar to the US.

  4. It means Against Communist, Antichrists and Bosniaks (ACAB), common phrase used in Dalmatia and some more Croatian cities.

  5. It stands for “Ajmo Curo Autom Baki” translating – hey girl, lets take a car to grandma. It came as a cultural response to grandmothers constantly asking if their grandsons are getting married soon.

  6. Yes it is same meaning , and if you say that or write on internet (mostly facebook) your wallet might get punished by internet police.
They removing those grafites but there are always new ones.

  7. Yes and no, yes is is the same acronim, no cause dumb little shits paint it where ever they feel like doing it until someone breaks thier fingers!

  8. in the USA its mainly used by left wingers, to protest police brutality and their prison industrial complex, and describe the very institution of the american police as oppressive.

In Croatia its written on walls mainly by ustashe Nazis, because they dont like the police to mess w their “plans”

  9. It means the same, but its usually written by some social media obsessed kids that can’t tell the difference between our country and the US.

In Croatia, officers are mostly fine. Some (fewer and fewer it seems) are corrupt in the sense they will let you off without a ticket if you bribe them. There’s rarely conflict between citizens and police, and even when there is (eg Football games), they’re usually a heat of the moment thing.
