E.ON Energie România remained, in 2025, a key partner to the state and to Romanian companies, having a major economic and social impact through the work of its 850 employees and its collaboration with nearly 1,000 Romanian suppliers of goods and services, to whom it channelled over RON 9.1 billion (€1.82 billion), whilst contributions to the state budget rose to around RON 1.1 billion (over €218 million), according to E.ON Energie Romania’s Sustainability Report for 2025.
Growing interest in the production and storage of green energy
The company has installed over 4,000 photovoltaic systems for residential customers, bringing the total to 8,900 by the end of last year. At the same time, it recorded an increase in the number of installations fitted with storage batteries, a trend that reflects the growing interest in integrated self-consumption solutions. In the first six months of this year alone, 93 per cent of the photovoltaic systems installed by the company for residential customers were fitted with storage batteries.
To date, E.ON has installed over 10,500 photovoltaic systems for residential customers. In addition, there are over 430 photovoltaic plants for businesses (401 registered by the end of 2025), with a cumulative installed capacity of 89 MWp, helping to reduce energy costs and increase energy independence.
To provide businesses with access to green energy at predictable prices, E.ON has set out to develop a portfolio of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). As part of this, a photovoltaic plant was built last year for the Webasto factory in Arad.
E.ON also supports low-emission transport and encourages the use of electric vehicles in Romania. The charging network reached the 600-point mark in 2025 and currently comprises over 700 charging points.
Over €1.8 billion – orders placed with suppliers
Through its operations, E.ON Energie România supports an extensive ecosystem of partners and suppliers. In 2025, the company worked with 1,083 suppliers, 93 per cent of whom were Romanian companies. The total value of payments made to them exceeded RON 9.15 billion (€1.83 billion), with the majority of this sum going to companies in Romania.
With a portfolio of over 3.5 million customers, E.ON Energie România consolidated its position in the energy market in 2025, becoming one of the leading suppliers of electricity, natural gas and energy solutions in Romania.
Last year, the company supplied 18.7 TWh of natural gas, representing approximately 19 per cent of national consumption, and 3.2 TWh of electricity, equivalent to around 7 per cent of national consumption.
E.ON Energie România is also one of the largest contributors to the state budget, having paid nearly 1.1 billion lei (over 218 million euros) in 2025, an increase of around 3 per cent compared with the previous year.
GraduatE.ON: 20 years of investing in young people
The GraduatE.ON programme, one of the longest-running programmes for developing young talent in Romania, ranked second in the national ranking of internship and management trainee programmes in 2025.
Over the course of its 20-year history, the programme has provided development opportunities for 180 university graduates, many of whom have gone on to build long-term careers within the company.
Professional training – 22 hours per employee
E.ON continues to invest in the professional training and skills development of its employees. In 2025, the average number of professional training hours reached 22 per employee, and the total number of training hours increased by 40 per cent compared with the previous year.
Investment in people is also reflected in customer relations: the number of interactions across all the company’s communication channels exceeded one million last year, and the E.ON Romania Group maintained its second place in the ranking of the industry’s most highly rated employers.
E.ON Energie România, a member of the German E.ON Group, is an integrated supplier of natural gas, electricity and energy solutions, with a diverse portfolio comprising around 3.5 million customers, including residential customers, businesses and local authorities. The E.ON Group is one of the leaders in the energy market, with a well-established presence in Romania spanning 21 years. Since entering the local market in 2005, E.ON has invested€2.7 billion, primarily in modernising the natural gas and electricity networks, and has paid €4.2 billion in taxes and duties to the state.
