Banijay Entertainment has confirmed that its physical comedy format “Let’s Play Ball” has been commissioned in Finland, marking its third international adaptation following successful runs in the Netherlands and French-Canada. Produced by Banijay Finland for STAR Channel, the eight-part Finnish series will be hosted by Pilvi Hämäläinen and filmed across Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Kuopio, and Oulu.

Originally co-developed by EndemolShine Nederland, Talpa Studios, and Signal.Stream—and co-produced by EndemolShine Nederland and Signal.Stream for SBS6—the format originated as a digital-first pilot on StukTV’s YouTube channel before transitioning to primetime television. The game show features two celebrity teams competing to transport a massive ball across complex city, river, and rural terrains while solving physical puzzles. The format is also being developed in the UK by Initial and Zeppotron, and in the US by Bunim/Murray Productions.

Tatu Ferchen, CEO of Banijay Finland, said: “‘Let’s Play Ball’ is the kind of format that immediately captures your attention. As producers, it’s exciting to work with a concept that began life on YouTube and has proven success in a key market like the Netherlands. The scale, unpredictability and physical comedy make it highly entertaining and a great fit for the audience at STAR Channel.”

Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer, Operations at Banijay Entertainment, added: “’Let’s Play Ball’ delivers a bold visual identity, standout comedy and fiercely entertaining competition. What’s especially exciting is its journey from a digital-first series to a major international format. Following its success in the Netherlands and French-Canada, it’s fantastic to see the format gathering international momentum, with Finland becoming its latest destination.”
