REMSEN — A tour of a Luxembourg language exhibit will be featured at the meeting of the Luxembourg Heritage Society of Northwest Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 12.
A business meeting at the Remsen Public Library will begin the morning’s activities at 9:30 a.m., followed by a trip to the Remsen Heritage Museum.
Members will view the display of 11 screens that show the extent of multilingualism in Luxembourg. In addition to information on the standing screens, members will be able to link to further data through QR codes.
The exhibit, developed by The Zenter fir d’Letzebuerger Sprooch in Luxembourg, is on loan to the Luxembourg Society by the Luxembourg-American Cultural Society in Belgium, WI.
Prior to the visit to the museum display, members will discuss the schedule for “The Luxembourgish Language(s)” exhibit at the Remsen Heritage Museum, the Plymouth County Historical Museum and Oktoberfest. Other topics will include features in Kevin Wester’s “Lion Tale” on parishes in northwest Iowa and the history of the Luxembourg Heritage Society of Northwest Iowa, as well as requests for information about ancestors, and an invitation to decorate a tree for the Festival of Trees in Le Mars.
