16% of public still believe Brexit is going well, poll finds

  1. I’m really surprised it’s that low. It takes courage and intelligence to admit and recognise you made a poor choice.

  2. Depends on your perspective.

Economy is shit, inflation is up, standards of living are down, the dream of owning a house is even more of an unattainable pipe dream than before and earnings in real terms have plummeted. Brexit is only a contributing factor to these issues rather than the main root cause. We also have COVID, the Russo Ukrainian War and widespread corruption to blame for this too.

But unlike post Credit Crunch Britain, you can easily walk into a job now because every workplace is desperate for staff. It’s almost like immigration was essential to keeping costs low. The Mail, Express and Sun have a lot to answer for.

It’s amazing how much the overall dynamic has changed.

I’m of the opinion that Brexit *can* work, but that Boris Johnson and the rest of the Conservative Party cannot be trusted to deliver it. Beginning to think that a Corbyn or Starmer negotiated exit would be better for everyone.

  3. **The Sunk Cost Fallacy** describes our tendency to follow through on an endeavor if we have already invested time, effort, reputation or money into it, whether or not the current costs outweigh the benefits.

  4. I’m going to start selling rocks. There’s obviously a large (16% apparently) untaped market of people needing to buy them to live under.

For the thrifty, I will sell buckets of sand, put your head in it and you won’t see that it’s raining.

  5. We’re unfortunately going down the route of American politics where supporting a party is like supporting a football team. Basically you’ll always have die hard fans that will never not support anything they do

  6. 16% of the public admit that they’re either stupid or completely isolated from much of the issues. Fixed it.

  7. I’m surprised that the figure is as low as that.

Let’s face it, literally the only reason that so many Brits voted for Brexit was to stick two fingers up to “foreigners” – and simply leaving the EU is classed by many as having achieved that.

That’s it. That’s all that Brexit means to leavers. Nothing else: no Brexit-related geo-political, economic, cultural or whatever issues ever even enter their heads.

  8. 16% oh well give it 5 bad shitty winters and i’m sure that will be 0% but it’ll probably be low for the remainders to as i’m sure soon people are gonna have to start choosing food over bills if they’re not already.

  9. Just to be contrary & annoying, it has had some benefits. We didn’t get caught up in the EU vaccine program and we’ve been able to forge our own path on ukraine. I’d argue our response to ukraine has raised our international profile. We’ve will also avoid having to bare more cost of germany’s and others over reliance of russian gas.

  10. If your business is entirely UK market then brexit probably has had little effect.
The wealthy, like Mogg, simply moved their money to Ireland. Other companies simply ramped up their existing EU presence and provided new jobs for the Netherlands.

Just like in wartime, the wealthy just rode the wave of inconvenience or had the funds to leave the country, which is exactly what wealthy russians are doing.

  11. This is legit amazing.

Do you know how hard it is to admit you are wrong on a fundamental level? This is people coming to terms with the reality they ruined opportunities for the kids, their grankids. No one voted for brexit to hurt their family.

This is huge progress. We need these people to admit it was a mistake. I would say our best bet back into the EU is a 10 year work and this is key.

In Short. Dont be cunts to people doing what you want them to do.
