FNV Havens has called on union members in the seaports of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Zeeland to participate in a coordinated strike on Friday, September 4, 2026.
The strike is scheduled to run from 11:15 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., covering the second assignment of the day shift and the first assignment of the evening shift.
Tug service provider Svitzer has confirmed that its employees will participate in the strike action, resulting in reduced tugboat capacity during the affected period.
This may lead to delays in vessel handling and could also impact terminal operations, though the precise extent of disruption remains unclear pending confirmation of whether terminal operators will also take industrial action.
Vessel traffic handling will continue to be conducted as safely and efficiently as possible throughout the strike period, with safety remaining the overriding priority.
Port users and shipping lines with vessels scheduled to call at the affected ports during this window are advised to anticipate potential delays and contact their local agents for updated operational information.
