A major twist has shaken up Diamond League Brussels 2026. Mondo Duplantis will not compete in the men’s pole vault, putting an unexpected end to his bid for another Diamond League title.

Duplantis entered the Brussels Final as one of the biggest stars of the competition and was chasing a sixth consecutive Diamond Trophy. He finished the regular season second in the standings with 30 points, just one point behind Kurtis Marschall.

The Swedish superstar has continued to deliver a spectacular 2026 campaign, including a world-leading 6.13-meter clearance in Paris and several victories throughout the Diamond League season. His absence leaves the pole vault title up for grabs.

Mondo Duplantis’ decision to pull out of the men’s pole vault came after leg tightness flared up again during warmups in Brussels. The world record holder had been hoping to compete, but ultimately decided not to take the risk.

The withdrawal means Duplantis will miss his chance to compete for another Diamond League title, bringing an unexpected end to his 2026 Diamond League season.

“It’s terrible. It’s not what you want to do as an athlete. You always want to compete. It breaks my heart. I hate this so much,” Duplantis said.
