A strike near Slovakia’s diplomatic facility has triggered a sharp response from Bratislava, while new details reveal the attack’s intended target.
Slovakia condemned Russia’s attack on Kyiv on September 4. The country’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár, said that Bratislava would summon the Russian ambassador for an explanation.

We strongly condemn today’s Russian drone attack on a building of the Security Service of Ukraine located near the consular section of the Slovak Embassy in Kyiv. For security reasons, it is used only to a limited extent, and no one was there at the time of the attack.

The minister also called on Russia to refrain from actions that could threaten the lives and safety of civilians. At the same time, he warned both sides against further escalation, which increases tensions and makes the prospect of a peaceful settlement more distant.
Aftermath of the Russian attack on Kyiv
A Russian drone fell onto the roof of a non-residential building in the capital’s Shevchenkivskyi district. A fire broke out after the impact, damaging the building’s floors and exterior wall.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the drone struck the central building of the Security Service of Ukraine on Volodymyrska Street, opposite Saint Sophia’s Cathedral. According to him, the drone was aimed at the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad.
That same day, a non-residential area caught fire in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district. A woman was injured in the Holosiivskyi district. Overall, 12 people were initially reported to have been injured in the attack.
Following the strike, Slovakia decided to summon the Russian ambassador for an explanation over the incident near the country’s diplomatic mission.
