The NBA has moved ahead with massive punishments for owner Steve Ballmer and the LA Clippers in the salary cap circumvention controversy involving Kawhi Leonard.
The franchise has been stripped of its five future first-round draft picks, given a $30 million fine, and Ballmer received a one-year suspension.
But what about Kawhi Leonard? Well, the Klaw has been handed a $700k fine by the league, and Draymond Green believes that was the correct decision.

Considering Leonard netted millions through the Clippers’ salary cap fiasco, many believe that his contract should have been voided, along with a one-year suspension.
However, Green disagrees with that notion, and he explained why on the latest episode of his podcast.
“Kawhi Leonard has to pay $700,000, essentially in restitution for what happened in the deal. And Kawhi came out and said, ‘I didn’t know anything about this,’ and I’m taking his word for it.
“Daktronics is a real company. If you got a deal coming in from Daktronics, you’re not running to your representation like, ‘How do I get this?’ I know that’s a very reputable company,” Green said.
He added, “Looking in any arena, they’re probably doing the scoreboard. I’m taking Kawhi’s word for what it is, and I’m happy the team got the bulk of the penalty and not Kawhi.”

Green went as far as calling out the NBA’s salary cap that prevents players from earning an extra $30 million via endorsements.
The Warriors star ultimately sees this as an ‘absolutely beautiful’ win for Leonard, which should set the precedent for such cases in the future.
