WSJ report claims Fetterman avoids meeting with constituents
Democratic lawmakers are denouncing Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman after the release of a new Wall Street Journal report.
The claims, which WGAL News 8 has not independently verified, show the first-term senator consistently avoids meetings with constituents and even gives some perspective on why he did not attend a funeral for police officers in the Susquehanna Valley.
The report is based on interviews, internal records and text messages between Fetterman and aides. It says that Fetterman skipped hearings, public appearances and meetings, including with veterans and health officials, while prioritizing interviews with conservative media outlets.
Among the revelations was a text message about Fetterman’s plan to attend the funeral for the three York County police officers killed in an ambush last year.
Fetterman is told the funeral will likely run for three hours, to which he says, “Three hours? This may be a non-starter.”
Fetterman did not end up attending the funeral.
News 8 reached out directly to Fetterman’s office about the claims made in the story and has not heard back.
Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman Brendan Boyle called Fetterman a disgrace and a “lazy trust fund baby.”
Democrat Chris Deluzio said “between the laziness, disrespect, and willingness to carry water for a foreign government, it shows us something we already know: This man has no sense of duty.”
Deluzio is referring to Fetterman’s close relationship with and support of the Israeli government.
