I was looking at the Wikipedia page about the median age in every country and I discovered that Lithuania has the biggest gender age gap in the world. I did some googling to try to find out why this is and couldn’t find anything. Does anyone here know why that might be?

  1. Lithuania used to lead in suicides, and naturally several times more suicides in males than females. If you look up life expectancy male/female numbers differ by up to a decade. The alcohol consumption is still in the top 5-10 in the world, again that’d affect males more. The underlying reasons? At some point it was not adapting to life changes, like Soviet union>independency. Maybe worse in rural communities with not as much work left/needed in agriculture sector.

Edit: could also be diet/healthcare as heart diseases etc are big in LT and eating greens just isn’t that manly, you know?

  2. Because average life expectancy is also lower for the men. Men generally work more jobs that are risky, hazardous to ones health or simply induce more stress, have way less support and much higher expectations/pressure to succeed, so they more often turn to alcohol for stress relief and much more often suicide. Men also more often become victims of violence.

Remember this when another braindead SJW feminist starts spewing the bullshit about how it’s the women that have it tough.

  3. Distribution by gender and age groups:

One can notice that up to 40-44 years there are slightly more men than women, but afterwards the difference is increasingly in women’s favor (there are 2x more women than men in age group 70-74, 3x more women than men above 85).

The real question is – why average life expectancy of men is so much lower than women in Lithuania, why men on average die much younger than women. I could not quickly find some analysis on this question, but this old article pretty much sums up main points:

  4. Women having longer average lifespans is true in most modern cultures and Lithuania is no exception. Some of the general reasons for this: women are less likely to engage in risk taking/violent behaviours, more likely to take care of their bodies and health, and are more likely to seek medical attention for their ailments. Some of the reasons that impact male lifespans in Lithuania more than in most countries would probably be high suicide rates and alcoholism, both of which affect male population significantly more than their female counterparts.
