Piers Morgan has alleged that Prince William and Princess Catherine were left “blindsided” by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to relocate back to the UK after several years living in California.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to England last month, enrolling their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in a British prep school.
During an appearance on The Royals Uncensored, Piers asserted there is “borderline anger” within the Royal Family over the move.
He stated: “From what I’m told internally amongst the royals, enormous consternation and borderline anger about what has happened here. They were blindsided, they didn’t know it was happening, and now they’ve got to deal with the fallout. We know what will happen with the Sussexes – they won’t be able to stop themselves!”
Royal commentator Katie Nicholl responded: “I don’t buy the Sussexes’ spin that they told Charles. I was also told he was blindsided. William and Catherine were absolutely taken aback by this. I’m told William is apoplectic, and as you say he won’t even have Harry’s name mentioned in his presence.
“But I wonder if you think that the King has made a mistake by being as magnanimous as he has been, keeping that door open for reconciliation? For me, where I’m sitting, it looks like they got what they wanted six years ago, which is that half-in, half-out role.”
Piers chimed in: “Which, just to be clear, the Queen was adamant when she was still alive, that they should not be allowed to have!
“She said, ‘Look, if you’re a working member of the Royal Family, you’ve got to be all in. You can’t be half-in, half-out. You can’t just cherry pick the good stuff and not do the drudgery of royal life’, which is often going up and down the country. Some people will see it as drudgery, others will see it as an honour!”
Katie laughed: “Meghan did that for 18 months! I was up there in Nottingham with her when it was pouring with rain – she hated it! She wasn’t cut out for it.”
