The 34th motorhome gathering, organized by the Estonian Caravan Club, is taking place in the village of Obinitsa in Setomaa Municipality, Estonia. More than 400 campers have arrived for the event, while the number of participants is approaching one thousand, ERR News reports.

Motorhomes occupy parking spaces

On Friday, it was difficult to find a parking space on Kool Street in small Obinitsa, as they were occupied by the motorhomes of gathering participants.

Liisi Laanemäe, a board member of Estonian Caravan, named comfort and independence as the key advantages of travelling by motorhome. According to her, travellers are not dependent on schedules, time or reservations and can set off whenever they wish.

Laanemäe noted that families and groups of friends come to the gathering. Participants include young families, newcomers and experienced travellers whose children have also come to the event.

Programme and animal care

Organizer Ivar Kalev said that a busy programme had been prepared for guests and that Setomaa has many interesting places to visit. Some participants spend time with friends, while those interested can take part in the programme’s events.

Massage, hairdressing and foot care services are also available at the gathering. This year, organizers have provided cat and dog care for the first time: animals can be washed, brushed or have their claws trimmed. Participants exchange travel experiences and inspect the motorhome setups of other owners.
