Croatia captain Luka Modric will continue his international career and is set to be included in the squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Czechia, Spain and England.
The 40-year-old has informed head coach Slaven Bilic and Croatian Football Federation president Marijan Kustic that he remains available for national-team selection.
Modric, who has made a record 202 appearances for Croatia, had been considering his international future following the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His decision means the midfielder will extend an international career that began in 2006.

Bilic welcomed the decision as he prepares for his first competitive matches since returning as Croatia coach.
“Of course, this Luka’s decision makes me extremely happy. We are all aware what he brings to Croatia, both on and off the pitch,” Bilic said.
The Nations League will also reunite Bilic and Modric after 14 years. Bilic previously coached the midfielder during his first spell in charge of Croatia from 2006 to 2012.
Croatia begins its League A campaign away against Czechia on September 26 before facing Spain and England.
