The strike occurred near Slovakia’s diplomatic mission, forcing its consular section to restrict services while officials raised concerns about civilian safety.
Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár instructed that the Russian ambassador be summoned to Slovakia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The move came in response to a Russian drone strike on the Security Service of Ukraine building in Kyiv, located near the Slovak Embassy.

Blanár condemned the strike on the SBU’s central building, next to which the consular section of the Slovak diplomatic mission operates. According to him, no embassy staff were injured, but consular services are temporarily being provided on a limited basis for security reasons.
We call on Russia to refrain from actions that could threaten the lives and safety of innocent civilians. At the same time, we urge both sides to prevent further escalation, which only increases tensions and does not contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. I have instructed that the ambassador of the Russian Federation be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

Russian drone hits SBU building
On Friday, September 4, a Russian drone struck the office of Oleksandr Poklad, acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine. The general was not in the building at the time of the attack.
Following the strike, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on international partners to increase pressure on Russia. The attack was also condemned by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
The Slovak side stressed that actions endangering diplomatic missions and civilians are unacceptable and heighten tensions surrounding the war.
