Pizzerie in Italy

  1. Before time began, I lived in Apulia and pizza was a street/snack food. Restaurants in cities would have a side window where slices were sold between lunch and dinner time, when sit-down dining was closed. A few people would eat a pizza in lieu of a pasta dish during a coursed meal. I have no idea where the idea of pizza as gourmet came from. Prolly the good old USA.
