US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Saturday night published footage of its forces destroying the M/T Kylo, an unladen crude oil tanker, in the Gulf of Oman.

In a statement, CENTCOM said that its forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers during the day on Saturday after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missiles toward two US Navy warships patrolling regional waters.

A US aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks. No American personnel were harmed, the statement said.

“Following Iran’s failed attacks,” continued the statement, “CENTCOM permanently disabled the IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask. American forces also completely destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo (also known as the ‘Noxen’) in the Gulf of Oman, striking the vessel in multiple critical locations to render it inoperable after the crew was directed to abandon ship.”

CENTCOM further said that the three Iranian crude oil tankers are part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network that funds the IRGC and its regional proxies. Iran has no means by which to defend them.

“Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost -taking out three of yours,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. “We will not hesitate to defend American forces, and if necessary, destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet.”

This past week, the US renewed its strikes on targets in Iran, including in the areas of Qeshm Island, Chabahar, and Bandar Abbas, near the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM stated that US forces targeted Iranian air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities, and communications sites.

Iran subsequently launched ballistic missiles toward US military bases in Jordan. The Jordanian military said 13 ballistic missiles were fired toward the kingdom, of which 10 were intercepted. The remaining three exploded in areas far from population centers.

Two US officials told Reuters that no American personnel in Jordan were injured.

Iranian media later reported that Tehran had attacked a US military base in Bahrain with drones, though there was no official confirmation of the report. Explosions were also heard in Kuwait, where the military said the country’s air defenses were engaging Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.
