RTVSLO has confirmed that Slovenia will not return to Eurovision Young Musicians in 2027, marking another year of absence for the country.
No further details were provided regarding the decision, though Slovenia has not appeared at Eurovision Young Musicians since 2018, when the contest was hosted in Edinburgh.
Despite its strong track record, Slovenia has been absent from the contest for several consecutive editions. The broadcaster did not participate in 2020, 2022, 2024, or 2026, and its non‑return in 2027 continues a pattern of withdrawal. In 2022, the broadcaster withdrew due to financial difficulties.
Slovenia debuted in the contest when it was held in Warsaw, Poland in 1994 and went on to take victory in the contest in 2010, represented by Eva-Nina Kozmus. This was then followed by two second-place finishes in 2014 and 2018.
Eurovision Young Musicians 2027 is set to take place in Liepāja, Latvia at Great Amber Concert Hall. To date, Latvia and Belgium have explicitly confirmed their participation, while Cyprus is also expected to take part.
