Moien!
I rent a fully furnished apartment in Luxembourg and my refrigerator has stopped working. The temperature is 16 degrees which is beyond safe to use. My landlord will not pay for the ~200+ EUR repair (it has not been done yet as he will not give approval, this is only the estimate that the technician has given) as he says it is small maintenance. Does this seem accurate?
I have done a bit of reading (https://blog.vivi.lu/repair-and-renovation-works-what-are-the-landlords-obligations/) and it seems that if it requires a professional in order to repair the landlord is responsible. My understanding is if it is basic such as a lightbulb or air filter I am responsible but for this it does not seem right for me to pay to fix his refrigerator.
I’ve consulted with friends and coworkers and they agree with me. but curious what more neutral parties might think?
Thanks for your time 🙂

I agree with you, you aren’t supposed to pay for professional repairs, unless negligence. But you are left without an option. Have landlord’s rejection in writting, then have the fridge repaired, and send your landlord a copy of the invoice in a registered letter. Maybe the fear of a legal follow up will make him reconsider.
