UPDATE: The fire at a gas station in Rocky Face was caused by a mechanical issue with a pickup truck.
Whitfield County spokeswoman Valeria Molina, on behalf of the fire department, said that flames started in the truck, then spread to the awning over the gas pumps.
Three different crews responded and had the flames under control within 30 minutes.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
Chattanooga Road has now reopened.
PREVIOUS STORY: A fire at a gas station in Rocky Face has caused a temporary road closure, according to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office.
We’re working to learn more details about the cause of the fire, which took place at the Circle K on Chattanooga Road.
The northbound right lane is closed as first responders work the scene.
