BEIRUT, Lebanon (MNTV) — Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon have killed at least 27 people and wounded 69 others over three days, including women, children and medical personnel, in a renewed wave of violence that has further undermined a fragile ceasefire.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said the latest Israeli escalation has concentrated around Nabatieh, where residential areas have been repeatedly struck and entire families have been killed.
The attacks have also prompted renewed displacement as residents flee communities facing what local activists described as a widening “ring of fire.”
One of the deadliest attacks struck a residential building in Kafr Rumman, north of the Litani River, killing 12 people and injuring 10 others, according to Lebanese authorities.
Those killed included two children and four women, while three children were among the wounded.
A paramedic was also killed in a separate Israeli drone strike on a vehicle in the same town. The attacks formed part of a broader bombardment that hit Arab Salim, Nabatieh and surrounding areas, Mayfadoun, Al-Kfour and Al-Ramadiyah, killing 11 people and injuring 26 over the weekend.
The latest casualties followed another series of Israeli strikes between Friday night and Saturday that killed four people and wounded 32 others, including women and children.
The cumulative toll has made the three-day period one of the deadliest since a US-mediated ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon took effect in June.
Among those killed was Lebanese Labor Ministry employee Hiba Ali Sabah, who died alongside her husband and daughter when their residential building in Kafr Rumman was struck.
Lebanese Labor Minister Mohamad Haidar condemned the attack, saying the deaths demonstrated the continuing toll being inflicted on families in residential neighborhoods.
Israeli strikes also hit the coastal village of Al-Mansouri near Tyre and the border town of Hula, with explosions damaging or destroying homes. In Deir Al-Zahrani, the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for a building before destroying it roughly 22 minutes later, according to Arab News.
The escalation has drawn condemnation from Lebanese officials, who accuse Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire and attacking civilian infrastructure.
Earlier, Israeli forces struck the Finance Ministry building in Nabatieh and Ghandour Hospital, prompting Haidar to describe the attacks as violations of international rules and conventions.
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri described Israel’s conduct as “acts of state terrorism,” accusing Israel of disregarding ceasefire arrangements and continuing attacks against southern Lebanon, its population and property.
Israeli authorities have justified the latest operations by alleging that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire by launching a drone carrying explosives toward Israeli forces.
The Israeli military said its subsequent attacks were intended to strike Hezbollah targets, while claiming it was responding to threats against its troops.
However, the scale of civilian casualties and the destruction of residential and public facilities have intensified criticism of Israel’s conduct.
The attacks have also raised fresh concerns that Israel is using military pressure to expand its control over parts of southern Lebanon rather than simply responding to immediate security threats.
The Israeli army said late last week that it had taken control of the strategically important Ali Al-Taher hills, an elevated area overlooking Nabatieh. Hezbollah had previously established fortified positions and underground infrastructure there.
Local activists warned that the fighting and Israeli territorial expansion risk turning Nabatieh and surrounding villages into another zone of mass destruction and displacement.
They urged the Lebanese government and army to assume greater responsibility for protecting civilians and ensuring that decisions concerning war and peace remain under state authority.
The latest escalation has further exposed the fragility of the ceasefire and left civilians in southern Lebanon facing renewed displacement, destruction and uncertainty as Israeli military operations continue.
