Mystery surrounds aristocrat’s vampire hunting kit

  1. These are always fakes. The items are all genuinely antiques but they were collected together at a much later time, usually when there’s a resurgence of interest in the vampire myth. This one is most likely to come from the 1960s when Hammer Horror were making lots of classic vampire films, then there was a brief renaissance with the 1990s films and then the Twilight series saw more of these being “found” and ending up on the auction circuit.

There were no vampire hunting kits. They’re modern curios made to exploit the market of people desperate for their fantasy to be true.
