Quarterly Contraction Against EU Growth

Austrian GDP shrank by 0.1% on a quarter-over-quarter basis, whereas the Eurozone expanded by 0.6% and the broader European Union economy grew by 0.7% over the same period.

This underperformance stems from persistent pressures across vital domestic sectors, particularly manufacturing and construction, alongside elevated operational and energy costs that constrain corporate investment and expansion.

Search for Stimulus and Competitiveness

While recovery indicators are taking firmer hold across much of Europe, Austria’s economy continues seeking new catalysts to revive business activity and restore regional competitiveness.

These developments present the Austrian government with mounting economic challenges to support productive sectors and spur private investments necessary to steer the national economy back toward sustainable growth.
