I carved a story I heard of an Irishman in wood with chisels and gouges. Hope you enjoy!

  1. Carved only using chisels/gouges in eastern white pine, 2’4″ tall, 17″ wide. Based on a story I heard about an island in Ireland (anyone that can correct me on incorrect details, please do!):

Brother Goodfellow was a quaker who owned an island, Inchcleraun, that had some ancient church rubble/foundations. As many did, he was reappropriating the stones when all of a sudden his sheep protested by sitting down and not moving. When he realized he should leave the old stones alone, he put them down (as you can see him doing in the carving) and in that moment his sheep got back up again. This is why the island is informly called Quaker Island too.

  2. May I ask what brand your tools are? I’ve got general gouges and chisels and knives, so I’m looking to get carving/whittling specific ones.

  3. Now do the one of the 4 Irish lads in a pub toilet, standing in a circle playing tin whistles with their mickeys hanging out.
