1. The kid is obviously a sicko, but look at the state of his childhood – his family and our social care system totally failed him.

   His mum abused him, his dad(?) was a violent Nazi.

   Logan’s father doesn’t appear to have been on the scene.

   Social workers ignored obvious threats.

   Neither kid’s school acted. The murderers martial arts teacher (if there was one) didn’t step in…

   I think this is a sensible sentence in light of this reasoning. There’s a long enough time for therapy to tackle the root cause of this. Whether he will actually get any meaningful help is a different matter…

4. The catalogue of failures for Logan are heartbreaking. What am I reading?

   The step father was allegedly a member of the National Front and may have disliked Logan because of his race.

   The mother was a good mother until she met the co-accused man. And the 14 year old told the foster family that he wanted to kill them and Logan.

   And to top it off the authorities knew about incidents before his death.

   RIP you sweet boy, you’re in a better place.
