Some difference in the price of shower gel if you don’t have a clubcard.. Like myself.

  1. This clubcard only price is the biggest scam since diesel went over 2 euras.

Im surprised there hasn’t been more commotion over it.

  2. I never noticed this was a thing! I’ve my app tho cos I use the scanners now so I can track my budget as I buy.

  3. Absolutely didn’t know this had become a thing, seems very scammy/borderline illegal: “let us have your personal and shopping data or we’re going to charge you way more”

  4. Stopped shopping in Tesco years ago. Never come across more rude or uninterested staff in my life.

Had to buy a gift card for someone and stood at the customer service (lol) desk while the 2 wans has a conversation about another colleague. When she finally decided to serve me I said “hope im not disturbing you” she flung the card back on the counter with a sarcastic “thanks” when it was done.

Fuck that place. Supervalu, Aldi or Lidl have far better staff. If you want brand shower gel or washing powder etc choice, dealz or those places always have it far cheaper

  5. I shop in Aldi find it so much cheaper overall. I’ve no superdrug near me but I have mr.price and that is normally good value.

  6. From my last visit to tesco it looked like they have moved any normal discounts to clubcard only discounts. Bit if a rip off without it. Not paying €7 for a little tin of Azerra…

  7. Price comparison of the major retailers for lynx ice chill 500ml.

    Tesco €5 / €3.50 with club card

    Dunnes €5.75

    Boots €6

    Supervalu €3.12 (50% off ) Regular price €6.24

Product not listed on Dealz , Aldi or Lidl.

  8. Can’t explain how angry this makes me — feeding the machine. Putting ‘regular’ prices as club card prices is extortion, not great savings. It saddens me to see Dublin like this, there’s no future for younger generations!

  9. So glad I live on the border. Same product in Tesco is £2.20 which is about €2.55 and that’s without a clubcard.

I have a tesco in equal distance away in the Republic and their prices are just the same as this despite most of their shelf lines being imported from mainland Britain.

    Rip off Ireland once again.

  10. Mr. Price or Dealz will have name brand stuff like Lynx or Nivea for no more than €2.50 usually, go there instead if you can.

Also if you get yourself a loofah (one of those scrubby things for use in the shower), squeeze a bit of shower gel into that for washing yourself and you’ll be amazed how much mileage you get.

  11. Lads the 2 Euro shop is absolutely class for having branded products for cheaper. I like the Dettol handwash and it’s only 1.50 compared to like 4 euro elsewhere

  12. Biggest rip off is pain killers and cold and flu tabs, I luckily live near the border. £1.29 v €10.50 for same cold and flu tabs just generic branding.

  13. Since early this year I moved to an Irish soap company [the black stuff](https://theblackstuff.com). Makes soap from stout and the deodorants are superior to what you get in the shops. Price and shite quality of these mass produced things and get longer out of the soap and roll on deodorants he makes

  14. This does annoy me too for some reason, I know that all our data is being sold anyways etc etc.

I feel like we’re being fucked twice on this though, like google sells your data in exchange for services that are mostly free. Tesco sells your data and takes your money too. So they are profiting twice off you.

I don’t mind if there are extra offers, like weekly clubcard prices or offers but they basically made all offers into needing a clubcard. It’s a scummy thing to do at this time. The prices are also misleading, the ‘clubcard price’ isn’t even that good but it’s the only offer available in some areas.

Tesco is the closest and handiest supermarket for me but it has put me off shopping there. I think it’s the principal of pressuring you into getting something that you didn’t have to a few weeks ago. The offers are the same, they are just labelled Clubcard price now.

  15. 1. look for picture of clubcard online
    2. scan and extract barcode value using some barcode reading app (may have to zoom in, they’re mostly good even at low res)
    3. put barcode value into a barcode-creating app for storing club cards – loads of apps to choose from
    4. use said barcode whenever you shop and enjoy discount.
    5. feel good you’re donating points to a stranger!

  16. Just get a club card. Simple. Doesn’t cost you anything and if you’re that stuck up about sharing shopping habits, then use fake details and a throwaway email address. Hoorah, cheaper prices unlocked for you.

  17. Who in their right mind is paying a €5er for shower gel ? I’ve mad dry skin so have to use Sanex or Simple but I’d rarely pay more than €3 for it because it’s always on offer somewhere.

  18. Why not get one? its just an app on your phone. Unless you’re living off the grid (you’re posting on Reddit like) then so many companies have infinitely more intimate data about you. But no, get your knickers in a twist about a grocery retailer like Tesco knowing you buy food, home and personal hygiene products!

I also assumed once lads reached the age of about 12 they stopped using shitty lynx products. So it’s a bizarre product to even be faux outraged about. Are you outraged about the price of Nuts magazine too?

  19. Noticed this last week. It just highlighted how expensive Tesco is and made me chose elsewhere to shop in future. Don’t understand how they thought this was a good idea.

  20. Sounds like Tesco is trying to charge you €1.50 not to track your spending habits.
I have a suggestion what they can do with that €1.50, but it might not be legal tender afterwards.

  21. Are we really getting upset about €1.50? Just go to Lidl or aldi if you’re shopping is price sensitive

  22. I stopped shopping at Tesco over this.

Reeks of desperation and hard-on for a two tier stratification of their shopping base. Craven data harvesting

Why not just rise above this shit and offer the same discounts to everyone

That’s what it will take to win me back

  23. Tbh you might as well get a club card. It costs nothing, you get discounts like that and it has the usual points system. I think it’s something like every £10 you get 1 point and 1 point is worth £1. So say over 6 months you spend £1k in Tesco’s, that’s then £100 you can use on your shopping. Like it’s worth it.

  24. I never go to Tesco without the Ma’s club card, the problem is she died over a decade ago and she would be 106 now if alive but they don’t seem to notice, her club card is dead handy for getting cheap deals, ill keep using it til someone notices.
