Village of Ayia Marina Shillura fifty years ago. 5 Years ago, today Mustafa Akıncı gave the promise to the original Turkish Cypriot and Maronite Cypriot inhabitants of the village that they would be able to return to their village in 2 years. Still nobody has returned.

Restoration of the village was estimated to have cost 2 million euros, not one cent has been invested in the rebuilding of the village as of now.

Because Akinci had a harsh lesson in the truth of N. Cyprus, which is; Turkey is in charge, not Cypriots.
The very embargoes put into place on the north, has played to Turkeys hand, where no body recognising TC’s, means the only contact is the ones taking over. When someone like Akinci talks the truth of what is happening, when the world is trained in not hearing TC’s, then Turkey can shut the mouths of those speaking truth very easily.
I hate what incompetent leadership and international negligence, has and is costing Cypriots.
Im not saying, recognise the North and lift all embargoes. But if the voices of TC’s are cut off, due to the embargoes, as it is, then do not be shocked to find Turkey, playing to their own tune.
Who knows, maybe one day change will happen, i just hope it is not too late!
