Dublin Airport security staff warn DAA bosses that they will refuse to train Army

  1. They want our tax money to pay the army to cut operating costs so that they don’t have to raise rates for the likes of Ryanair.

They want our tax money to pay employees overinflated rent so that companies don’t have to give their staff payrises or a full weeks work.

They want our tax money to pay for hotel rooms propping up the hotel industry and importing people to fill these beds.

  2. Are these security workers part of a union? Surely if the threatened strike / went on strike they would get better pay and contracts?!

  3. I love the way the answer to every failure is to “Call in the Army”. They very rarely go in to sort a thing out apart from a security support service to the Gardai. Once when there was a flood in Athlone about 12 soldiers from a local barracks drove around in a big truck but for the other 999 times the “call in the army” line was spouted, they did nothing, and quite rightly too because they’re not here to cover for the gaps in everyone’s planning.

  4. Just seen karma-toes comments, sorry but part of the DF roles are aid to the civil powers and if they are told to go and work in the airport they will

  5. is the training that hard? Metal detector goes beep, pat someone down while casually drag the bag of your hand across the groin.

X-ray scanner goes beep, sigh and ask “any liquids?”
