Russia’s hopes to establish import supplies through Moroccan ports turned out to be in vain. The Moroccan authorities have refused proposals from Russian officials and businessmen to build a new transshipment terminal in Casablanca to handle cargo destined for Russia and create a trading house through which Russia could purchase goods from third countries. This was told to The Moscow Times by two logisticians who participated in the discussion, and confirmed by an official from the Ministry of Transport.
The idea, according to them, was to create a hub there for the supply of goods to Russia, which would partly replace European ports, which, due to sanctions, were closed to cargo destined for Russia. At meetings in the Ministry of Transport, according to their participants, officials discussed with representatives of Russian and foreign transport companies the creation of such hubs in the ports of Casablanca and Tangier. It was also planned to organize a Casablanca-St. Petersburg feeder line: containers from ocean-going ships calling at deep-water ports would be reloaded onto smaller (feeder) ships and delivered to Russia. The last link in the plan is the opening of a trading house operating in the interests of Russia.
This was supposed to help restore imports of goods to Russia, which collapsed after the imposition of sanctions, including the import of sanctioned goods, employees of transport companies explained.
Well done Morocco
Good guy Morocco
Morality aside, this **will** cost us with Russia, lets see if the EU/US will step up when the time to pay comes..
