Lol, sounds like they’re all out of vodka and started on the krokodil
I hope our embassy officially replies back to them with “lol” and nothing more.
is there a bottom to this
The State Duma are still butthurt about being personally included on the sanctions lists.
Reading the article (sacrilege, I know) it’s really a counter threat to the idea of the US/Europe seizing Russian assets. “Well, we have a claim on Alaska too, sooo…” It’s not a remotely realistic threat, far less so than threats against the Baltics and Nordics – those are just plain unrealistic, not fantastically unrealistic.
But, if you really want to, come over and get your ass kicked.
The guy making the threat doesn’t seem to have a realistic grasp on the limits of Russian power (now on display for the world to see in Ukraine).
I believe that Alaska’s civilian population alone could repel the Russian army.
Does this imply that Russia will give the US back all of its railroads?
By the time the Ukrainians are done with the Russian army they’ll have trouble invading a pacifist convention.
Is this just a terrible, awkward translation of what he said, or are Russians really just a bunch of weirdos? Whenever I read a translation of a statement by a Russian politician it always reads like an angry teenager’s LiveJournal post. Does Russian just not translate well into English, or something? I mean…I’ve read translations of classic Russian literature like Tolstoy, and that seems to translate just fine. So I can only assume Russians really are electing sub-normals to high office.
