I’ve been told that AHK will not allow me to install an inverter and solar panels for 5 KW production because our current consumption is only 3 KW. We have future plans to install central heating and have an electric car so this restriction does not make sense.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this or if these restrictions will be lifted / alleviated given the recent push by the government to promote solar?

  1. Run into the same issue and i am in the process of the application. I was told by the company that will install my solar panels to get an offer for 3 air conditioning units with 18000 btu to be installed in the “near future” so that it will show my consumption will increase.

It’s a stupid rule honestly. They don’t want to decrease the power consumption of oil burning with solar as there are rich mofos that benefit from it.

  2. I’m certain it’s not simply greed and corruption at play here, but an attempt to steadily move out of using diesel. Also, demand/supply of electrical energy needs to be balanced at any time, and having too much power coming into the system during the day will make the “duck-curve” more difficult to handle.

That’s my first thoughts on the matter. And as the other guy mentioned, try justifying why you need more kW, as your future consumption is set to increase. I take it you already have a 3-phase system to be able to install 5kW PVs?
