Ah, yes. Poland worse for LGBT people than fucking Mali, a country overrun by Islamic insurgents, and other shitholes where gay folks get literally stoned to death. Loving these double standards these maps always apply to Europe and the 3rd world
why are we in the minus zone, I thought, and then I realized that if people go into some kind of yard, then they meet an old man, a sad man for whom conservatism is everything and he will see that they are LGBT people, then just a bunch of unpleasant words will go to people. or a terrible mother for whom debauchery is even ordinary people that hold hands
They should have split the US in the single states, I doubt all have the same safety level
Not a great look for eastern europe
India? Wtf. This map is a joke right?
Big doubts on the validity of this map
The Vatican? Really? Who’s gonna hurt you in the Vatican if you’re gay? The Swiss Guard?
Japan too, yeah it’s not the most progressive country in the world and there certainly is homophobia but gay tourists being just as safe as in Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Lesotho and Botswana? Or fucking China of all places…
Also Brazil or Argentina, how did they get such a good score? Yeah the gay community is well and alive there but those are two places where you really don’t want to be alone at night walking in a big city, ESPECIALLY if people know you’re gay.
What’s gonna happen to you in Tokyo or Seul if you’re a gay person walking down the street alone?
Yeah, this chart is bullshit.
South Africa? Nobody is safe there.
Kinda weird that India is safe than Lithuania for LGBT people.
Is there a map for the best and worst countries for travelers with disabilities?
This looks pretty fucking unreliable lmao
China under it’s current dictator has turned anti-gay.
The map is outdated.
-4, the only place my country is worse then poland, damnit
Aside from all the problems everyone else already pointed out, I want to add that some countries might be okay for parts of the community but not for others. Just lumping the whole community together doesn’t really work because many cultures can have pretty different reactions to different identities. Like in Iran, trans people are cool, but gay people are punished with death.
As a lesbian I’ve never had any problems in Russia (I went there regularly before the war). Because outside of the islamist autonomous republics in Caucasus where LGBT people are killed, many Russians don’t really see female homosexuality as a real sexuality over there so it’s not a threat to them, at least if you’re a foreigner from the “degenerate” west. But gay men might have it harder because many Russians find men loving men incredibly provocative.
A number of countries are also fairly safe for people of the male sex but not for the female sex, this should probably be weighted in as well even if it’s something that affects everyone and not just LGBT people. Because half of the community is female after all.
I’m wondering what makes the difference between Belgium & the Netherlands/Germany here?
I could only think of the -danger- of conservative immigrant groups, perhaps.. but you have those in The Netherlads & Germany too..
Germany’s less safe than Austria? Honestly that comes as a bit of a surprise.
And I’m Austrian.
Why are you gae ?
How the fuck does the Taliban accept LGBT more than Saudi Arabia
You can see very quickly that the map is not correct when China is almost equated with Japan. China is a country that operates slavery and re-education camps. sad how hardly any country says/does anything against it, instead we are making ourselves more and more dependent on China.
really sad
And color choice is Purple for worst countries…
It depends on what you want to do whether it is best or worst. This map assumes you want to do LGBTQ+ things in full view of authorities.
I love that countries where you can legally be burnt alive for being gay are deemed safer than for example Poland.

I strive to make my county’s color red.
