Hello Everyone,

I have looked up and google similar subjects, but the information I got is fragmentary or aged. Not sure if any updated. Hoping you guys can help me with your experience.

I am not an EU citizen, but living in Germany now, very probably will keep living here if I work well or nothing big change in my company.. Planning to buy a used car from Italy because the car I am looking for has more options in Italy than in Germany. Some are registered in 2013 or 2014 with millage 50,000\~60,000KM. Could buy it from a private person or car dealer, depends on how long the purchasing process is.

What process I know of buying a used car, import and register it in Germany is:

1. from this website, no VAT required when I buy a 6+ years old car and more than 6,000KM millage in Italy ([https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/vehicles/cars/vat-buying-selling-cars/index\_en.htm](https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/vehicles/cars/vat-buying-selling-cars/index_en.htm))

2. German car insurance (EVB, Electronic Insurance Code)

3. CoC (Certificate of conformity) from Italy dealer or private seller.
Question: I think this CoC should be in Italian language. Is it necessary to translate it into Deutsch with a official certification?

4. Transportation or driving from Italy to Germany
Question: driving should be a cheaper option, but I need to know how to de-register Italy car plates after arriving Germany. In addition, is there any problem with customs or police when I drive cross Swiss and Germany borders?
Car transportation could be an easier way for me if I don’t have a chance for vacation to drive from Italy to Germany. Any recommendation of “cross border car transportation” near Nürnberg?

5. German yearly taxes (KfZ-Steuer), which is 200 Euro in my case

6. appointment with TÜV in Germany to get TÜV certificate

7. appointment with Landratsamt to get German car plates

Another option to make the process easier but pricy, is to find a dealer to handle the whole process. Is there recommended dealer near Nürnberg is providing this kind of “import used EU car” service, which I can ask for a quotation for whole service? I doubt that because dealer may not earn too much from only completing the process.

Please correct my process if any wrong.
Super appreciated and welcomed of any kind of suggestions, advices and answers!
