Poland as one of the most dangerous countries in the world according to the Spanish Foreign Ministry

  1. Poland as one of the most dangerous countries in the world according to the Spanish Foreign Ministry

Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has just published an astonishing threat map of Europe for 2022. It is more extensively covered in today’s edition of the Spanish daily ABC, from here we learn that “the map represents an unofficial threat index at European level and indicates the countries that Spaniards should avoid this summer”.

For understandable reasons, the countries: Russia, Belarus and the Kaliningrad region have been coloured red and Ukraine black respectively. For some unknown reason, however, Poland and Moldova have been placed in the zone of countries coloured orange, i.e. at great risk, while the rest of Europe with the Baltic States and Scandinavia, the rest of the Visegrád Group, has retained a neutral colour in this ranking – the sea colour, which encourages people to travel without fear.

When, following the ABC daily, we read the analysis, we get the following justifications:

“If there is a country where you cannot under any circumstances set foot this summer, it is Ukraine. The conflict unleashed after the Russian invasion has made this territory the most dangerous country in Europe, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ukraine has thus become the only such dangerous place in the whole of Europe, joining other countries at the international level such as Afghanistan, Syria and Eritrea. (…)

Poland’s assistance to Ukraine has made it advised against travelling to Poland in the coming months. Although the country maintains restrictions on access to the border with Belarus, according to the Ministry, travel to this territory could be a problem for Spanish citizens.”

It is interesting that analysts from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs can’t think of any kind of danger in Lithuania or Latvia, Finland or Slovakia, and only Poland, of the countries in our region, seems to be a highly dangerous place in terms of summer tourism and, indeed, more broadly: travel of all kinds. Unfortunately, after such a warning from the Spanish authorities, we can expect another wave of cancellations and Spaniards abandoning their weekend getaways to Warsaw or Krakow. Let us hope that the Polish institutions will respond to this alert and calm the mood among Spaniards.

All the more so because it is worth keeping in mind other data on the safety of rest, which was recently mentioned by Rzeczpospolita: “According to Eurostat data – Spain is, together with Belgium, the infamous leader in the category of crime in Europe: 140 robberies is more than eight times as many as in Poland”. The average tourist from Poland is therefore many times more likely to become a victim of violence or theft on Spanish territory, while a Spaniard will come and go from Poland unharmed. Yet the Spanish Foreign Ministry is eloquently silent on the subject, so let us hope that the Polish Foreign Ministry will respond with an appropriate note.

  2. Poland is a lot of things, most notably a smoggy country for half the year and a country ruled by corrupt and/ or incompetent religious fundamentalists.

    Dangerous? Fuck no.

  3. When your intel is so bad and shallow you post something like that, IN THE WORLD?

You could provide a shitload of examples not proving that, olso eurocentric pov is flawed.

    Foreign ministry shitpost, nice

  4. Wrong or fake. These are the safety warnings for Poland, all very run of the mill:

Some thefts, specially cars and in trains/stations. Be generally aware and have an alarm in your car.

Polish police has very low tolerance concerning public disorder and vandalism. Be in your best behavior.

There’s been an increase of thefts in strip clubs and other adult oriented nightclubs. Be careful not to get drugged and pay in cash.

  5. Because Poland is near Russia? And by this standard Spain is one of safest countries in the world because away from Russia?

  6. Idk why did they color Poland as dangerous conutry but maybe *maaaaaybe* has something to do with the spaniard *alleged* journalist who is still in polish custody after being detanaid for being an *alleged* russian spy.

Last I know about that case is that he still was in polish police custody and they refused to let him contact his family.

Or well, you know it could have absolutly nothing to deal with it and they just decided russian retaliation is somewhat likely aganist Poland

  7. >Poland’s aid to Ukraine made traveling to Poland discouraged in the coming months. Despite the fact that the country maintains restrictions on access to the border with Belarus, traveling to the territory may be a problem for Spanish citizens, according to the ministry.

    lol

  8. This one is just hilarious 🤣 ‘I’ve survived in Poland’ – I’ll definitely add this to my CV as a special skill lmao
