Minister complains to Speaker about Labour remarks on rape convictions

  1. >Just 1.3% of 67,125 rape offences recorded by police in 2021 led to a prosecution, Home Office figures show. It means rape continues to have the lowest charging rate of all crimes.

    >Reeves said she was disappointed by the complaint. “The only thing that is deterring women from coming forward is their inability to get justice because of a Conservative government that has effectively decriminalised rape,”

    Labour has the receipts. Savage.

  2. Good, because the appalling conviction rate is now news again. Perhaps the offended minister would like to back constructive action to effectively “re-criminalise” rape once the truth sinks in? Assuming of course that any of her Conservative buddies give a sh**?

  3. It’s a very hard crime to prosecute for reasons well beyond government control

I really hope this isn’t labour going back down the road of throwing away justice to meet some artificial target for conviction rates…
