Do these shopworkers never read the news? This idiocy never works out.
>and she says ‘can you not do that please, I think it’s inappropriate’.
I appreciate that not everyone is comfortable doing so but how about “mind your owning fucking business”.
This is particularly ridiculous as she was in her own car.
Wtf, she wasn’t even in the store, she was in her fucking car
Surprised this is still happening in 2022.
What the actual fuck.
That employee needs to read up on a few laws before opening their gob.
The correct answer when someone comes up to you and says this is “fuck off and get your manager”.
It’s the most natural thing in the world. Anybody that has an issue with a Mother breast feeding her baby is a fucking weirdo.
I would have told the employee to fuck off.
Then after feeding the child go into the shop and report her to whatever manager they have.
The fucking nerve of some people!
Not to get all American about this, but couldn’t she sue them over this. As far as I’m aware it’s illegal to stop people breastfeeding in public spaces.
Edit: I was right it is illegal. She shouldn’t sue them she should go to the police.
That employee better be facing disciplinary action
This is why we can’t have nice things.
How rediculus. When I first saw the headline I thought it was while shopping which I would still think they were in the wrong if they did.
Her child was crying, she immediately stopped shopping and went somewhere with a bit of privacy. Furthered the privacy by wearing a cover and was still told off! What more could she of done?
I’m glad Sainsburies immediately confirmed they were in the wrong and clarified their position. Let’s hope the training is proper and stop their staff embarrassing mothers mothering.
It should be illegal to tell mothers to not breastfeed their child. The punishment should be having a screaming toddler bite your nipples.
I’ve never understood this. I bet if she was sat topless in the car, nobody would have approached her. But feeding seems to trigger many people, including other women.
Please explain to me what’s inappropriate about it.

I’ll wager this employee wasn’t acting on any actual policy, but instead has a personal bee in the bonnet about breastfeeding and decided to try and interfere whilst pretending to be acting in an official capacity.
As others have quite rightly pointed out, the correct response from the feeding mother should have been to tell her to piss off and fetch her manager if they wanted to discuss it further.
> Mum told to stop breastfeeding at Kidderminster Sainsbury’s
That’s why Mum’s gone to Iceland
> A spokesperson said it was investigating and would *deliver further training*.
*Further* training? Do you have to go anywhere beyond “Women are allowed to breastfeed and keep your bloody nose out of it and let them do so in peace”.
What’s so difficult about minding your own damn business?
She was in her car and also covered. Not to mention breast feeding is one of the most natural things in the world. What was the problem? Yet on a seperate note how did the staff know? Did one of the security flag it up.to a manager? Its hard to see into cars with most cameras about
She should have continued and got the employee to the stage where she calls the police. There’s nothing more fun when dealing with an unreasonable person than them saying ‘I’ll call the police’ and responding, ‘No, please allow me.’
That is a discrimatory act, friend.
**Pro-life tip:** if, from a distance, you see some entirely normal human activity which offends your delicate sensibilities, just say nothing, turn around, climb back in your box and close the lid.
As a breastfeeding mother I would have been so angry I probably would have taken off my cover, got out the car and stormed into the supermarket with my baby still latched onto my boob. Luckily I never had anyone approach me and ask me to stop when I did it in public
From NHS website: `it is illegal for anyone to ask a breastfeeding woman to leave a public place, such as a cafe, shop or public transport.`
I’ve never understood the hypocrisy. The type of people that have an issue with women breastfeeding in public, are also the ones who kicked off when Page 3 was removed from the Sun.
Oooooh my old work place, don’t remember staff being that ridiculous, must be the day time bunch.
Well he was twelve years old.
Never understood why anyone thinks it’s inappropriate for a mother to feed her child. It’s natural. Maybe don’t fucking look or sexualise it. Fucking hell
Sue sainsbury for telling you that you can’t do, what is a human right, plus for humiliation of it. Ps, don’t let them get away with it, by offering you a years supply of nappies .
The most unnatural thing in the world is to complain about breastfeeding.
Genuinely baffled by anyone who has an issue with it.
Sad that this headline has been editorialised so much. The correct headline should be “Mum told to stop breastfeeding in Sainsbury’s Car Park”, which makes the company look much, much worse IMO.
How is this news
When I worked on the customer service desk of a small supermarket a woman came in with her baby, she was juggling bags and the kid. I could tell she was trying to feed it but kept getting knocked about by people coming into the store. So asked if I could take her bags for her and if she wanted to come around to the other side so she could sit down. If you’ve gotta feed your baby it’s not gonna wait till you get home. Its only an issue if you make it one.
Why do we drink cows milk, but human milk is weird?
I work in Sainsbury’s and just last Friday a lady was sitting on the shop floor breastfeeding her baby. No one batted an eye at it. Must have just been one uppity member of staff there.
I think that Sainsbury’s in Kidderminster should give this young mum a weeks shopping plus sack the uptight bitch that was complaining,
I hope this young mum continues to breast feed and doesn’t give up and let these idiots get to her.
20+ years ago, I got hassled by staff when I was breastfeeding in a Sainsburys. I’d done it many times before, walking around with no problems, but my daughter was getting big so I stopped and crouched in a corner, very discreetly. Within minutes, a staff member had descended on me and made a big deal about it, how I shoould go in the toilet and do that, etc etc. She made a big show, whereas if she’d let me be, no-one would have noticed me. I just ignored her until my baby was finished. Fuck you, bitch.
I am a train guard, walking through my tain the other day checking tickets and a mum was breastfeeding her daughter, she went to try to get her bag for the ticket, no bother I said, I will check on the way back through, I wouldn’t want my lunch to be disturbed either….. why is it in the 21st century we are even having to comment on it…..
This attitude really fucks me off about people in this country. I really, really can’t stand people that have to make everything their business. It was Sainsbury’s I believe where the woman was reported for having shorts on that were ‘inappropriate’, the two women who shared a kiss were asked to leave Sainsbury’s because it was ‘inappropriate’.
I’m not saying Sainsbury’s is to blame here at all but what’s the mentality behind someone who reports to staff what another customer is wearing because they think it’s “inappropriate” ?? Like who honestly believes they have the right to police that?
I swear you can tell these people have never grown up on a council estate. Nobody in asda tells the big topless, tattooed, middle aged football blokes to cover up because you’d get your fucking head kicked in. Absolute small middle class village jobsworth mentality.
This is disgusting, poor woman shouldn’t even feel the need to go to her car. The staff member should be dismissed for this IMO. This could be extremely upsetting for the mother.
I don’t understand how anyone can have a problem with feeding a baby. It’s just nonsense.
Also it’s so bizarre how Conservative people (mostly Americans) can live babies sooooo much they force people not to abort them. Yet at the same time think they shouldn’t be fed… Inside their brains must be chaos.
Nice bobs or?
I can almost imagine the creature that asked her to stop was a total Karen, in a badly-fitted Sainsbury’s staff uniform. I can close my eyes and imagine the scenes as she clutched her pearls in feigned dismay as the young mother didn’t just acquiesce with an immediate apology. Probably stormed back into the store and made a fuss to her colleagues about the whole scenario, exaggerating every aspect in her favour, while her colleagues glance at each other sideways and think “What the fuck is wrong with you, Karen?”
