  1. > The former Education Secretary has taken a job advising Regent Group, which has donated at least £135,800 to the Conservative Party. The firm’s CEO and several directors and advisors are also Tory donors . . .

    > The firm’s CEO, Dr Selva Pankaj, is also a Tory donor, as are company directors Dr Nadey Hakim and Maurizio Bragagni, Professor George Holmes, who chairs the Advisory board.

    > Lord Rami Ranger, who also sits on the Advisory board, has given more than £1m to the Tories and chairs Conservative Friends of India.

    > Mr Bragagni is also honorary consul of San Marino in the UK, and was previously chair of British Italian Conservatives.

    > Mr Bragagni, who has given £650,000 to the Tories made headlines this month after making comments about “foreign Muslims” in an interview.

    > The Conservative Party distanced themselves from his remarks, but did not return his donations.

    Have they ever?

  2. That 50 will get him a nice flat with heat, hot/cold running water, and a bit of meat each week. Seriously, 50K pounds … are they punishing him?

  3. The political system in this country is broken. I think we need to do the following:

    1) Implement PR

    2) Reduce parliment to around 400 MPs

    3) Pay each MP £150k pa plus expenses

    4) Limit MPs to a maximum of 3 terms

    5) No MP second jobs

    6) No directorships during time they are at parliment or conflicting ones afterwards

    7) Abolish HOL replace with small elected chamber of new law reviewers.

    8) Long prison sentences for Corruption in Public Office.

    9) Political donations from UK residents only limited to max of £500 per year.

    10) All political advertising paid for by the state.

    11) Elections on a Sunday and voting compulsary.

    12) No foriegn ownership of media.

any others to add to the list.

  4. Just proves you can fuck up completely and still land on your feet if you know the right people
