Heinz products off Tesco shelves after pricing dispute

  1. >”We will not pass on unjustifiable price increases to our customers,” a Tesco spokesperson said.

In other words, Heinz are price gouging under cover of inflation.

No warnings from ministers about that though.

  2. The prices of Heinz products are pretty indefensible given the absolute shit quality of them, this is no loss to the customer IMO.

  3. On the rare occasion I have beans on toast, I prefer Branstons. It’s always interesting when 2 big companies butt heads, I liked the Visa vs Amazon fight.

  4. Beans – Branston >

    Tomato Sauce – Tiptree/Sauceshop >

    Bye Heinz, don’t come back.

  5. The only Heinz I buy are the “5 bean” ones. I’ll admit they are very good.
Other than that Id get Branston for the beans with the sausages. Every other brand they do like ketchup or soup I just get the supermarket brand ones. Some of the supermarket ones are better too… far less sugar.

  6. In other news, Branston’s market share has skyrocketed.

Pretty much everyone I know prefers their products to Heinz.

Heinz are basically committing corporate seppuku here.

  7. Tesco trying to screw Heinz the way they screw over farmers and smaller companies. I don’t want a price increase anymore than the next man but don’t even think Tesco is doing anyone a favour. They’re just flexing their buying power.

  8. I always have to have Heinz soup, always Oxtail as I’ve been eating that since I was a very young boy.

I’d say Heinz tomato sauce is ok, Daddy’s and Hellmans are better, or were better as I never see them any more.

Heinz baked beans have always been mediocre, Sainsburys own have them beat all ends up.

  9. Would take anything Tesco said a little more seriously if their self-checkouts could stop begging for sodding donation round-ups every single you use them. If I want to donate to a charity, I’ll do it personally myself, not as some way to make Tesco look in a good light to be donating to ever the hell they choose too.

  10. For a company to stop another because they are taking the piss…. You really must be taking the piss.

  11. Tesco beans are superior to heinz beans, ketchup is ketchup… Heinz price gouging will only lead to more people realising, that the price of their brand is already unjustifiable.

  12. Interesting that Heinz say they have had to raise prices due to increased costs, but Tesco won’t pay more. So Tesco wants Heinz to take the hit, but Tesco’s aren’t willing to take the hit. Tesco blames Heinz, Heinz blames Tesco.

  13. ketchup is easy to substitute. there are a dozen brands just as good.

replacing helmands mayo though… that cant be done.

  14. Just buy Tesco’s own brand, unbelievably cheap, so you’d assume they’d be rank, but tesco brand food is actually quite nice.

  15. Personally I never buy Heinz crap. I can’t tell the difference between it and the Tesco/ASDA/Morrisons own brands I get which is half price.

  16. There are people on here giving tesco a hard time ie. Big bad supermarket. But tescos net profit is 2.5% I can’t believe they would pull one of their best lines as a bullying tactic. I’m nearly sure it’s blatant price gouging by heinz. And all the other supermarkets will wait till its resolved then get their prices down after tesco has taken a bold stance. Good on tesco, if only we the general public had the power to say no to unjustified price increases.
