73 Strings, an AI-powered valuation and portfolio intelligence platform for alternative asset managers, has acquired Callisto, a Paris-based financial technology company specializing in agentic AI for private markets. The acquisition will accelerate 73 Strings’ development of AI-powered investment workflows, including automated due diligence, financial data analysis, portfolio monitoring, and valuation simulations. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Callisto develops AI technology that automates complex tasks performed by private equity and private credit firms. Its platform supports workflows ranging from analyzing investment data rooms and preparing investment documentation to completing due diligence questionnaires and processing information stored across financial databases.

The company’s technology incorporates proprietary agentic data pipelines, specialized embedding models trained on financial documents, and AI agents capable of working with complex Excel files.

These capabilities are designed to help investment firms process large volumes of financial information and automate activities that traditionally require extensive manual analysis.

The acquisition strengthens 73 Strings’ efforts to develop an integrated AI infrastructure platform serving alternative asset managers.

The company plans to incorporate Callisto’s technology into its 73 Intelligence platform, which combines financial data extraction, standardization, portfolio monitoring, and valuation capabilities.

A central component of the integration will be the development of platforms that AI agents can access and operate through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

This approach will allow AI agents to access financial information, execute investment workflows, and interact with the company’s existing valuation and portfolio management technology.

73 Strings intends to maintain its existing approach to valuation governance, combining automated workflows with traceable calculations, a deterministic valuation engine, and human judgment.

Rather than allowing AI agents to independently determine asset values, the company plans to use automation to accelerate data preparation, analysis, and other activities supporting investment professionals.

One of the first major developments will involve introducing AI-powered simulations into 73 Intelligence.

The new functionality will allow investment managers to model how portfolios, asset valuations, and fund-level financial outcomes could change under different macroeconomic and market assumptions.

According to the company, calculations and scenarios that previously required weeks of work could potentially be completed in minutes while maintaining auditable results.

The technology is intended to support investment professionals as they evaluate portfolio performance, assess potential risks, and make decisions involving capital allocation.

Callisto’s core AI infrastructure is expected to be integrated into 73 Intelligence over the coming months.

As part of the transaction, Callisto founders Charles Farhat and William Profit have been appointed Co-Heads of AI Product at 73 Strings, reporting to Chief Product Officer Matt Storey.

The two executives will lead the development of the company’s agentic AI products and oversee the integration of Callisto’s engineering capabilities.

Profit previously worked at Bloomberg, where he developed distributed systems supporting foreign exchange operations handling trillions of dollars in transaction volume. He also worked at Motive Partners in private credit technology and studied computer science and artificial intelligence at Imperial College London.

Farhat has a background in applied mathematics and nuclear engineering, having studied at ENSTA Paris and École Polytechnique. His previous experience includes developing advanced robotics for defense applications.

Callisto’s engineering team will join 73 Strings’ product organization, strengthening the company’s internal AI development capabilities.

The acquisition follows a broader recruitment initiative involving senior engineering and product professionals from established software and AI companies.

73 Strings currently serves investment firms representing more than $20 trillion in assets under management, including nine of the world’s 10 largest private capital firms.

Its platform supports valuation and portfolio management across private equity, private credit, infrastructure, growth equity, and venture capital.

Callisto works with European private equity and private credit firms collectively managing more than $200 billion in assets.

The transaction follows 73 Strings’ $55 million Series B financing in February 2025, led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, with continued support from Blackstone Innovations Investments and participation from Golub Capital, Hamilton Lane, Broadhaven Capital, and 7RIDGE.

The company is also supported by HSBC Innovation Banking.

Founded in France in 2020 and headquartered in New York, 73 Strings maintains offices across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Support: Pragma Partners served as legal counsel to 73 Strings, while Quest Avocats advised Callisto.

KEY QUOTES:

“Our ambition is simple: to be the infrastructure private capital runs on. That means AI at the core of the platform, and the people who can build it — shipping new features fast, and at the enterprise-grade standard our industry operates at. Callisto is the latest expression of that ambition. Charles and William have built one of the strongest private-capital-focused AI teams in Europe, and they now lead AI Product for the deepest data and workflow asset in private markets.”

Yann Magnan, Co-Founder And CEO Of 73 Strings

“We founded Callisto on a simple conviction: asset managers can only unlock the full value of AI once their data lives in a structured, single source of truth. That digital layer is what makes AI-native products and agents possible, and it’s what will allow asset managers to scale as private markets open up to retail investors. Joining 73 Strings gives us the opportunity to combine that technology with deep private markets expertise and global scale, accelerating our shared vision for how AI can transform investment workflows for private markets firms of all sizes and strategies.”

William Profit And Charles Farhat, Co-Founders Of Callisto And Co-Heads Of AI Product At 73 Strings

“73 Strings has demonstrated a clear commitment to investing in the technology and talent required to build the next generation of private markets infrastructure. The acquisition of Callisto is a strong example of that strategy in action, adding differentiated AI capabilities while demonstrating a thoughtful approach to using both organic investment and strategic M&A to accelerate growth.”
