I absolutely hate this. It’s not real capitalism, they’re just basically jacking up the price on a fixed supply just because they want the fund to look like it’s beating inflation. A fund does not need to beat transitional inflation like the one were seeing now. And it pays to be a decent landlord.
If we had a functioning property market, without NIMBYism, with supply to match the population, then I’d be like “you know what, they can do whatever the fuck they want cos people will just move somewhere else”.
We need to crush NIMBYism. Increase supply and don’t stop until the price of a green BER rated studio apartment inside the M50 hits €50,000.
