Nigeria and the Czech Republic have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in trade, investment, security and economic development.
The development followed high-level discussions between officials from both countries on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, held discussions with the Czech Republic’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Petr Macinka, on September 23, 2026.
During the meeting, both countries discussed ways to improve their economic relationship and increase cooperation in different areas.
Nigeria highlighted opportunities for investment in industry, infrastructure, technology and innovation. Nigerian officials also encouraged more Czech businesses to invest and participate in Nigeria’s economy.
Trade and investment were identified as important areas for strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
The discussions are expected to create more opportunities for businesses from Nigeria and the Czech Republic to work together.
Nigeria is also seeking international partnerships that can support industrial development, technology and infrastructure.
The latest discussions show the efforts by both of countries to expand their economic relationships and create more opportunities for trade and investment.
